| The Foundation has a fully equipped
Remote Sensing and GIS centre for all types of mapping
works and remote sensing studies using satellite data. |

| Forest cover mapping of
Junagadh division: |
|
The working plan of Junagadh division (Junagadh and
Porbandar districts) was under preparation and important
inputs based on remote sensing satellite as images were
required for this purpose. The satellite imagery of
November, 2002 was used and village taluka, ranges and
working circleswise forest cover classes like dense,
open and degraded forest, dense, open and degraded
grassland, tree cover in grassland etc. were delineated.
Thematic maps and report have been important inputs for
finalizing the draft final working plan of Junagadh
division. The inputs generated will also be useful to
implementing officers for carrying out various forestry
operations. |

Integrated Coastal and Marine Area
Management Programme (ICMAM): |
|
Under this programme, the studies on community zonation
of selected mangrove habitats and eco-morphological
zonation of selected coral refs in Gulf of Kachchh were
completed in collaboration of Space Applications Centre
and final reports have been published. The inputs of
these studies will be useful for the management of
Marine National Park and Sanctuary. |
|
|
|
Khijadia Sanctuary: |
|
Land cover classes for Khijadia Bird Sanctuary have been
generated by using remote sensing satellite imageries.
The inputs were incorporated in the study report of this
sanctuary and they will be useful for the management. |

|
|
Forest cover status of Rajpipla
(East and West) divisions: |
|
For providing the inputs based on interpretation of
satellite imageries, the study and has been initiated
and preliminary preparation has been done. The study
will be completed in 2004-05. |
|
|
|
Forest fire prone area mapping of
Rajpipla (East and West) Divisions: |
|
Forest fire prone area mapping study of these divisions
have been initiated for providing information for
working plan as well as to the local staff. An
innovative approach has been considered by using
satellite imageries of different months and years. The
study will be completed in 2004-05 and information will
be provided to the staff for fire protection measures. |
